Structured junior water safety for local Thai and expat children on Koh Samui — ocean swimming, CPR, rip awareness and board skills.
Surf Life Saving Club · Koh Samui
Most local children begin with no ability to put their face in the water. SLSC Koh Samui runs structured junior water safety sessions — ocean swimming, CPR, rip awareness and board skills — prioritising Thai and expat children.
Sessions already run every Sunday at Nature Bar, Mae Nam, based on Australian SLSC model. The foundation is live. The gap is scale, equipment and facilities.
Donations fund safety equipment, nippers kits, training resources and upgrades to facilities so more children can take part safely.
What Makes Us Different
Samui Surf Life Saving Club is embedding structured ocean safety and lifesaving training into its core model, designed specifically for local Thai and expat children. Through regular sessions in ocean swimming, CPR and practical lifesaving skills, the Club aims to develop confident, capable young people who can progress into real employment pathways as lifeguards and water-safety professionals on Koh Samui and beyond.
In collaboration with Thai company Minairal, the Club is ensuring participating children have access to clean drinking water during sessions. This partnership forms part of a pilot program to eliminate plastic bottles from the Surf Club and one of our participating schools, with a view to expanding into a Samui-wide initiative that substantially reduces plastic bottle use across the island.
Your donation helps fund the equipment, kits and facility upgrades that let more local children learn water safety.
